Cool videos on Technology, Virtualization and Storage
More and more cool videos are getting round that explain certain things around virtualization, cloud computing and storage better and better. I thought I’d sum up my personal favorites in a blogpost.
Older stuff: The Internet
A very old but still fun to watch is “Warriors of the Net”. This video explains how the internet works. Things like packets, firewalls and routers are explained here:

VMworld Party Copenhagen 2011 – What’s Hot & What’s Not
I heard a lot of different visions on the quality of the party of this years VMworld in Copenhagen. It seems that depending on where you were at the party, the quality differed a lot 🙂
I have been shooting some pictures along the dancefloor just in front of the stage… And it rocked!
Whats Hot, Whats Not
A picture says a thousand words. Or in this case, two pictures:

Whats Hot… …And VMware, really??? What’s Not.
Clearly, there were “some” differentiators this year round… Catching ducks in a pond without shotguns… VMware, REALLY???

RIP Steve Jobs – An Inspiring Visionary 1955-2011
I will probably be the last to say that Apple is my number one company. For some reason the “Reality Distortion Generator” found in every single Apple device does not seem to affect me. But the fact these kind of sayings exist today really say it all: Steve Jobs has done great things for the world of technology and was a great visionary. During his life a lot of revolutionary ideas and products have seen the light in a way that only he could have realized. Steve turned the world of technology upside down and inside out at the same time while others were just trying to keep up.
I just wanted to give my respects to someone who I found to be an inspiring visionary and business person.
The world of technology will not be the same without him.
Under the Covers with Miss Alignment Part 2: Linked Clones
This post is the continuation of Under the Covers with Miss Alignment: I keep hearing this rumor more and more often: It appears that both snapshots and linked clones on vSphere 4.x and 5.0 are misaligned. Not having had the time to actually put this to the test, I thought it would at least be informative to give you some more down-and-dirty information on the subject.
Looking back at VMworld 2011 Las Vegas
VMworld 2011 in Las Vegas has come to end. Once again it has been an epic event. I can’t believe how fast it was over. Was it worthwhile? Very much. Would I do it again? Definitely!

VMworld’s Thursday keynote: How We Think
Todays keynote is not directly about new technology or cool things. Well actually it is about cool things. No bloggers tables today, no press. So, nothing new? Maybe not, but still an interesting blogpost I think.
4 vCPU FT demoed with synchronous replication?
For a long time VMware Fault Tolerance was only supported on a single vCPU VM. Today we witnessed a change: During the BCO2874 session we got a first look on the prototype of the SMP enabled Fault Tolerance. Cool!
Steve Herrods VMworld Keynote Summary
Welcome to the tuesday General Session. Steve Herrod is taking the stage with some cool new stuff. This blogpost is typed as-we-go, so bear with me if anything is misspelled or looks chaotic 🙂
Introduction
Steve is looking at three phases in VDI: Simplify, Manage and Connect. These three phases are important to distinguish: First you simplify, you need to manage your setup, and users need to connect. View 5 is built to accommodate this to the max.
Up next, the new goodness for small businesses and finally… Melvin the Monster VM!
